I created this blog as a way of sharing the things I learn from building businesses online.
I’ve been creating online businesses since I was 15. I’ve started (and failed) more companies than I can count. But, from all the failures, there have been a few successes.
When we read stories of entrepreneurs, we often only see their successes. We don’t see behind the scenes of the failures, the hundreds of hours that felt like wasted time and effort.
I’m assuming that if you’re reading this now, you’re an entrepreneur yourself.
Maybe you’ve been building things since you were young and always knew you wanted to own your own business.
Maybe you’ve grown tired of working for someone else and want to do build something of your own, and live life on your terms.
The important thing is, you know you want to build something. And this blog is going to show the simplest, fastest way to get your agency off the ground.
What is an Agency?
You’ll notice I often use the word ‘agency’ to refer to service businesses. But, what exactly is an agency?
I like to think of agency as a more focused type of business. An agency is a way to turn your passions, your skills, and your expertise into a business. A real business, that generates real value for your clients while making you a profit in the process.
This can be done through consulting for clients, selling services, selling digital products, courses, etc.
With an agency, there are truly an infinite amount of ways you can profit from your knowledge.
Why People Start Agencies
Everyone has different reasons for starting an agency. It’s important to know your reason as, ultimately, this is the core of your business. What drives you to get up in the morning and continue building?
You love what you do
The infamous Chess player Bobby Fischer once said, “All I want to do, ever, is play chess.” While I don’t think many people have this sort of dedication to their craft (and I would hope not, sounds unhealthy), if you feel a ‘pull’ to your profession or skill, then you simply love to do it. The logical extension, if you love to do something, and are good at it, is to charge money for it.
You want to live life on your terms
Owning your own business means that you are the sole responsibility for your paycheck. For some people this is scary. For others, it’s their calling. When you work a normal job, you’re trading your time and effort to build someone else’s dreams. If you want to create the life you truly desire, you can’t be building someone else’s dreams for 8 hours of your day.
You see a problem and know of a solution
Business, in it’s purest form, is about solving problems and creating value for people and other businesses. If you see a problem that people are dying to get solved (not just a small thorn in their side, but a real burning problem), then you have the opportunity to create a business to solve it.
Above all, your agency solves problems for people and/or businesses.
